Host Rules

Event Hosts are expected to follow these rules when hosting events at Kink Center.

Host Responsibilities

  • • Enforce Kink Center rules and host-specific house rules
  • • Provide all setup and teardown labor
  • • Manage attendee conduct and safety
  • • Clean all used areas after the event
  • • Coordinate with assigned Event Coordinator/Staff

Waivers & Documentation

  • • All attendees must sign Event Attendee Waiver
  • • Waiver must explain consent, risks, and non-entertainment nature
  • • Custom waivers are permitted if required elements are included
  • • Must name Kink Center on waiver

Masking Policy

  • All Fridays are mask-required (KN95 or better) for the entire event
  • Any event before 5pm is mask-required, regardless of vaccination or testing status
  • • No masks with exhalation valves
  • • Setup crew, DJs, and performers must mask during pre-5pm setup
  • • Hosts may set stricter policies but cannot waive these rules

Strictly Prohibited Activities

  • Fire play & open flames (not permitted)
  • Neck rope attached to structures (prohibited)
  • Non-self-releasing breath play (prohibited)
  • • Scat and watersports play
  • • Unsafe suspension practices

Weapons & Safety

  • Weapons prohibited (immediate venue ban)
  • • Play knives only visible during scenes
  • • No weapon-like items allowed
  • • No aerial hazards or projectiles

Blood Play Rules

  • • Allowed under controlled conditions
  • • Must use barriers and precautions
  • • Blood must not become airborne
  • • Excessive bleeding is not permitted

Suspension & Rigging

  • • Hardware must be professionally rated
  • • Participants must check in before suspension
  • • Neck rope to structures is prohibited
  • • Hosts must monitor suspension play

Food, Drinks & Alcohol

  • • Food and drinks stay in kitchen only
  • • Exception: sealed water bottles, accessibility needs
  • • Alcohol requires a valid WA State banquet permit
  • • Signed permit must be printed and posted in the kitchen during the event
  • • Host controls alcohol distribution

Venue Care

  • No gaffer tape on the floors — damages the softwood polish
  • • Painter's tape and artist tape are OK; Kink Center keeps painter's on hand
  • No roller skates on the floors — the softwood is uneven

Volunteers & Door

  • • Door check-in is the most common volunteer role
  • • Hosts can recruit their own people through the volunteer signup — they'll be assigned only to your events
  • • Group door check-in training can be arranged for your team
  • • Whether off-shift KC volunteers may attend your event is your call — tell KC ahead of time

Common Areas

  • • Bathrooms, kitchen, walkways are off-limits for scenes
  • • No disruptive play in common areas
  • • No sexual activity in common areas
  • • Keep common areas clean and accessible

Play Rules Enforcement

  • • Clearly define allowed and prohibited activities
  • • Communicate rules before the event
  • • Rules cannot change on day of event
  • • Enforce consistently throughout event

Consent & Complaints

  • • Address all complaints immediately
  • • Handle consent concerns with event staff support
  • • Report all consent issues to Kink Center
  • • Maintain confidentiality when appropriate

Post-Event Duties

  • • Clean all used areas thoroughly
  • • Remove all food and alcohol
  • • Items left behind are held by KC staff — arrange pickup via your host channel
  • • Return furniture to original condition
