Venue Accessibility

Kink Center is ADA accessible, has AC, and is equipped with freestanding HEPA filters as well as a powerful HVAC system.

Quick Summary

  • ADA-approved entrance from Pike Street
  • Elevator access to venue space
  • Two ADA-accessible bathrooms
  • Modern HVAC with HEPA air purifiers
  • Windows can be opened for increased ventilation

For masks-required events: KN95 or better masks are required throughout the event. You may quickly remove your mask to take a sip of a beverage or a bite of food. We ask that you step away from the group to do so and that you minimize the amount of time that your mask is off out of respect for high risk community members

ADA Access

Kink Center venue has an ADA-approved entrance, elevator access, and two ADA-accessible bathrooms.

  • The venue has an ADA-approved entrance from Pike Street
  • Normally, a Volunteer will be waiting for you at this gate to let you in. Volunteers make sure you are here for an event (RSVP check) and check that you are at least 18 years old. This may create a small wait if you are with the initial burst of attendees. If you have trouble standing or waiting in a line, please go around the line and ask for assistance from the volunteers. Our venue will not host large (70+ people) events, so this line should never be long. If you are unable to continue waiting, please politely go around the line and ask for help
  • There is a slight ramp at the front entrance which leads to a flat common area where our Elevator exists
  • There are two bathrooms, each are ADA Accessible

Masking Policy

Kink Center venue requires KN95 masks or better at all morning events (before 5pm) and all Friday events.

  • All morning (before 5pm) events in our space are Masked. All events on a Friday are Masked. These requirements are Venue-wide and apply to any and all events that take place in the venue during these times. Our requirements for Masking are KN95 (or better) and allow people to quickly eat and re-mask away from the main group
  • Event Hosts that reserve the Venue can dictate mask mandates which we will abide by completely, as long as they are enforcing a more strict policy than our own. They cannot remove a mask policy on (for example) Friday, when the whole venue is masked no matter what. Event Hosts get to decide what exceptions (if any) exist for drinking/eating/playing. Event Hosts can make any of our requirements more strict — for example, they can disallow people from eating whatsoever

Air Quality

Kink Center venue uses a modern HVAC system, COWAY HEPA air purifiers, and openable windows for ventilation.

  • The venue has a powerful and modern HVAC system that keeps the venue comfortable year-round. By law, as a commercial space, it continuously cycles air out and brings in clean air
  • The window just South of the kitchen can be opened to help clear CO2. We are working on monitoring this proactively and have added this to our Standard Operating Procedures for the KC Staff member to do before and during an event
  • We run multiple COWAY Air Purifiers in the space. You are welcome to bring in more equipment
  • We do not currently have FarUVC gear, but we want to have it. It is expensive, and we need to stabilize the nonprofit wallet first

Volunteering & Staff Accessibility

Our entire team consists of Volunteers with a wide range of accessibility needs. We want to make sure everyone feels safe and cared for (as much as we can). This looks like:

  • Our volunteer shifts at events are usually Masked. The Tasks on the volunteer platform clearly mark Yes/No if masks are required. If you need everyone (including attendees) around you to also be masked, please chat with our Director of Volunteers who can give you opportunities for events that have this requirement!
  • All In-Person Kink Center meetings are Masks Required. This was not always the case, but we learned. If you would like to attend a meeting remotely, please let a Director know so we can bring a laptop and setup a video call on Discord!
  • We know that there is a mountain of support we can receive remotely, and we have not done a great job at discovering what those things are. If you think you can help from afar, please contact us!
